12:30pm – 2:30pm

Participants will take a guided tour of Nissan’s Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna to see firsthand how STEM skills are utilized in the workplace. The facility’s corporate leadership team will debrief with participants to discuss the employability skills needed for students to be successful in high-demand positions within the advanced manufacturing industry. Pre-registration is required with preference given to school counselors.  Shuttle service will be provided. There is no additional cost for the tour but seating is very limited.

The tour begins by visiting Stamping where 20,000 pound coils of steel are cut into sheets and stamped into body panels. After Stamping comes the Body Shop where robots and staff weld the panels into bodies. Then on to the Fascia Paint Line where the front and rear bumpers of the cars are painted in an automated process. After Paint the tour proceeds to the Trim and Chassis Shop where the engine, transmission, suspension and interior are attached to the car.

After the tour, attendees will be given the opportunity to speak with Nissan executives.
